Took this picture from the yard which was just above the beach. (Rachel’s parents live in a magnificent house, with this wonderful view. Ceremony on their private beach, reception on their very lush lawn.)

The bride and groom signed all the wedding documents in front of us at the white table. If you look to the left of it, you can see what TDH calls the “sandodium,” where the pastor stood and they were wed.

The ceremony started about 30 minutes late but the guests enjoyed appetizers (shrimp cocktail, cheese, crackers, spicy beef in phyllo dough, mini quiches, crudites and dip) as well as wine, beer and soda while mingling. There was certainly no way anyone could be annoyed in this type of setting! Besides, whose wedding starts on time?

Neither the maid of honor nor the bride wore any shoes and most of the guests took their shoes off on the beach as well. Short, sweet and to the point, I only cried a three times during the ceremony (once when the bride walked down the aisle, once during the reading, and then at the end when they kissed). Afterwards, the wedding party took pictures on the beach while we enjoyed refreshed appetizers and more drinks, before heading up the wood stairs to the white tent, bedazzled with white lights for the reception.
