Harper, The Morkie

21 Mar

As I may have mentioned several times last week, I’m house sitting for the next week.

Harper is a four-pound, four-month old, Morkie (Maltese and Yorkie mix). She’s got the face of a teddy bear, tiny little teeth, a prancy walk and a surprisingly low bark and growl for a small little gal pup. She sleeps on people’s heads when she’s tired, she prefers to eat out of your hand rather than her bowl and she sleeps through the night with no accidents. For the most part I’m not a huge fan of little/small dogs, but she’s changing my mind at an alarmingly fast rate. I wonder if Jack (a 50-pound adorable Black Lab/American Bulldog/mutt) would be okay with a small dog? Probably not.

img_3237That’s Harper hanging out on Irish. She’s pretty in love with him.

A few things I’ve forgotten about having a puppy:

* If they are wandering around aimlessly in the house, sniffing, they probably need to go out.

* Little teeth hurt just as much as big ones do.

* They make cute little noises when they are going to sleep.

* A sleeping puppy on your lap is one of the greatest feelings (I’m sure until people have babies, anyway).

* Cleaning up pee is not fun. Thank goodness for puppy pads.

* The “baby voice,” syndrome is inevitable.

And a few pictures taken from my Blackberry, so pardon the size/quality, but still totally adorable! (Picture One: Harper being super cute. Picture Two: Harper cuddling on my head)

Aww what a little cutie! Puppies are so fun but cleaning up the pee is not, especially if it’s in the middle of the night!

Seeing as I’m the first man to post a comment, I have to dissent: Puppies suck. They’re cute and not much else.

yeaaah…i’m not too crazy about dogs that might be mistaken for a football. i’d rather have a big one that i can hug really well and take for walks while feeling semi-protected.

it’s awesome that you’re already having a great time with the little girl, she looks adorable with that haircut :)

Awww, very cute. Shes so little though. Like you, I am not a fan of small dogs. My 85lb golden isnt either; in face, shes scared of them. Yes, scared of them. Hahaha, she likes to sleep on our laps too.

wow. that pup is totally photogenic. Look at her sitting there, prim as can be, on Irish! Leave it to Snarl (above) to dis puppies, though he’s rght in a way. At least he thinks she’s cute, too. I gotta tell ya’ – she kinda makes me want a little little dog. Enjoy! (oh, and that harness is precious.)

little dogs are so adorable especially when they are puppies. yes those little teeth hurt. as cute as they are, i don’t know if i’d ever want a puppy again (so much work!). i’ll take mine a year old or older ;)

She’s so cute! Have she and Jack gotten to play? Lucy (who is at least 40 lbs.) has made friends with all the small dogs who live in the surrounding apartments. It’s hilarious watching her play with them!
